Every website owner’s goal should be to top the rankings in searches relevant to their field. If that’s not their goal, why do they even have a page? The truth is, your page won’t grow on its own when you just leave it there, but that’s getting ahead of ourselves. We will discuss more on that later.
Going back, you may want higher rankings, but you may not know how to do it. Have you heard of SEO or Search Engine Optimization? Actually, from the name itself you can surmise already what it does.
Putting it simply, it’s optimizing your page to rank better on search engines. When people type some certain words on the search bar, the goal is to be on the first page of the results or better yet – to top the list.
People tend to gravitate more to the websites who are on the first page. They are the pages most likely to be clicked on. And that’s what a website owner should aim for. If that’s what you want, here are some quick tips to rank better:
Always think of quality content. – Not only should your content be related to your industry, it should also be of quality. This is a great way to get your rank to rise organically. At the end of the day, people stay on pages because they like it.
What will make them visit the page and stay? Quality content. It may sound too simplistic for an SEO technique, but it is what it is. When the articles of the website is well-written, informative, and interesting – people want that.
Sometimes they even like it to a point that they even share it on their social media platforms. When your content can do that, you did a wonderful job! When you put up articles, ask yourself if it’s shareable. Is it something you would want your circle to read as well?
Another good effect of quality content: people are bound to return again to the page. If they have read a great article, the greater the chance that they will come for more.
Website is updated regularly. – Earlier we have mentioned about a page being left alone – don’t do that. Once the website is up and running, the work does not stop. What would your potential visitors do with outdated information?
Worse, your website will no longer work because your platform may have been obsolete already. One more thing, create content regularly also. From the previous tip, when they see something that they like – they would want to come back time and time again.
Give your target audience something to come back for. When you don’t update your website, the less search engines will crawl to it. That would effectively lower your ranking – you wouldn’t want that.
